The range of competence of the ministry of interior is fixed by the grand ducal decree about the constitution of ministries.
The main tasks of the Ministry concern local affairs, municipal finances, municipal planning and urban development, the control of the accounts of the communes and civil security.

Test of the national warning system: sirens, test message on the GouvAlert-app and unannounced zonal alert SMS message
As part of the reform of the national warning system, the government has been carrying out regular tests since May 2022, testing the siren network every first Monday of the month and sending a test SMS alert to the population in a given zone, as well as a test message via the GouvAlert mobile application.

Test of the national warning system: zonal alert SMS, sirens and test message on the GouvAlert-app
As part of the reform of the national warning system, the government will continue to implement its national warning system testing strategy on Monday 1. May 2023 by carrying out the monthly test of the siren network and sending an alert SMS to the population in a specific area, as well as a test message on the GouvAlert application.

Communal elections: 3,847 candidates running for 1,121 mandates
According to official records compiled by the Ministry of Home Affairs, 1,483 women (38.55%) and 2,364 men (61.45%) are running in the 11 June elections.
