Communal elections: 3,847 candidates running for 1,121 mandates

According to official records compiled by the Ministry of Home Affairs, 1,483 women (38.55%) and 2,364 men (61.45%) are running in the 11 June elections.

3,468 Luxembourg nationals (90.15%) and 379 non-Luxembourg nationals (9.85%) are standing as candidates. It should be noted in this context that persons with dual nationality are considered as Luxembourg citizens according to the rules followed by Statec and Eurostat.

It should also be remembered that in 6 municipalities in the country, voters will not be called to the polls because the number of candidates does not exceed the number of mandates to be filled on the municipal council: these include the municipalities of Bourscheid, Nommern, Stadtbredimus, Vichten, Weiler-la-Tour and Winseler.

Further statistics will follow as soon as possible.
