The range of competence of the ministry of interior is fixed by the grand ducal decree about the constitution of ministries.
The main tasks of the Ministry concern local affairs, municipal finances, municipal planning and urban development, the control of the accounts of the communes and civil security.

Raising awareness of the risk of vegetation and forest fires
Within the frame of the national platform for disaster risk reduction, led by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the working group on "Vegetation and Forest Fires", composed of experts from the relevant authorities, has prepared advice on how to behave during the vegetation and forest fire season.

On Monday 3 July 2023, the government will continue to implement its strategy for testing the warning and information system for the population by carrying out monthly tests of the siren network and the GouvAlert mobile application.

Review of the national warning system: unannounced zonal SMS alerts
As part of the reform of the national warning and information system, the government has been carrying out monthly tests of the siren network and the GouvAlert application since May 2022, as well as sending a test SMS alert to the population in a given zone.

As part of the reform of the national warning system, the government has been carrying out regular tests since May 2022, testing the siren network every first Monday of the month and sending a test SMS alert to the population in a given zone, as well as a test message via the GouvAlert mobile application.

Municipal elections: Operation of the Government Coordinating Office and presentation of candidate statistics
Representatives of the press have been invited to the headquarters of The Government IT Centre on 25 May 2023, where the Government Coordinating Office will meet to receive, record and publish the unofficial results of the local elections of 11 June 2023.
